Late Happy Birthday to Seth's Mom! AND, WE'VE GOT POWER!

Late Happy Birthday, Patty! Since you were preparing to evacuate H-town on your birthday, I think we should a birthday redo for you. :) We're so happy that you're in town, even if it is because of Ike. We're also glad to hear that your house is okay.

In other news, after TWELVE DAYS, we have POWER! Thanks to Liz and family for hosting me and Lucy for a week, and thanks to Seth's brother Jeffrey for hosting the Roussel fam for a few more nights.

Oh this reminds me that I need to blog about my time at the Savarese house. Let me just say this--I think my sister must have Red Bull energy drink coursing through her veins rather than blood. There is no other logical explanation for her ability to go NONSTOP from the moment she gets up at 5:30 am (to go walking, no less!) until the time she goes to bed. I think maybe she had about 10 minutes of alone time each day. Otherwise she was taking care of Anna, Porter or Julia, or doing the dishes, or doing the laudry, etc. etc.! She has inspired me to get it together and clean up our messy house and to try to cook dinner more often. Needless to say, Seth wants me to spend lots more time at Liz's house. I told him, let's not get carried away here, I am not superhuman like her. Seriously, for anyone who has 3+ kids, I don't know HOW you do it. Maybe Seth and I will find out one day... I really wonder how my parents did it. I think that when you have six kids, you must just get used to chaos. I don't remember our house being chaotic but I'm sure it was. Anyway, Lucy had a GREAT time catching up with Julia. They now acknowledge each other's existence and even started stealing each other's toys. The latter was very entertaining to watch. Every time Julia took Lucy's toy, Lucy would errupt in giant crocodile tears and wailing. She was very dramatic about it. And she would just stare at me with an evil eye, as if she were saying, "snatch it back, mommy!" Julia, on the other hand, would just wimper a little bit if Lucy took her toy. Guess she's used to sharing with her big brother and sister. I promise to post pics of the little princesses very soon.

After our adventures at Liz's house and Jeffrey's apt., we're happy to be back in our cozy little (air-conditioned!) beehive. We missed it a lot. Lucy is totally confused and wonders why we've stopped being nomads. I hope that she figures out that this is her one and only home very soon. Even more than that, I hope she starts sleeping through the night again very soon.

So that's about it for us. The LSU game is on right now but I'm not sure what the score is because I'm busy writing this and watching the Food Network. Seth and his brother are at the game. Lucy and I joined the pre-game tailgating earlier today. We'll have lots of pics of Lucy's first tailgate! She was decked OUT in LSU gear. I think she had a great time. She smiled and flirted with everyone there.

Alrighty friends, time to sign off. Good night, all!
